Vanadis, based in Nuremberg, Germany, was founded in 2013 to bring Advanced Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries to the European market for the integration of renewable energy & other applications.
In 2014 Vanadis has installed the largest European Flow Battery in Northern Germany (0.3MW / 1.3MWh).
Vanadis is the winner of the "2015 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Innovation and Leadership":
Since 2016 Vanadis is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
Funded by long-term private equity, it has strong strategic partnerships with Rongke Power to manufacture world leading stacks, Bolong New Materials (BNM) to produce its proprietary electrolyte, and UniEnergy Technologies (UET) which has designed and engineered and is manufacturing its breakthrough compact vanadium battery in its 70.000-square-foot design and production facility near Seattle, capable of manufacturing 100MW annually.
Rongke has 600+ battery power stacks deployed in the field in systems up to 5MW with an annual stack production capacity that recently ramped up to 300MW. BNM has 1GWh annual electrolyte production capacity.
With its flow battery design and optimized power electronics, Vanadis’ battery enables all-in-one: ancillary services, renewable integration and bulk storage, transmission and distribution system support, microgrid and remote area implementation, commercial and industrial savings, and electric vehicle charging.
Vanadis utilizes a new-generation vanadium electrolyte technology initially developed under the Storage Program of the U.S. DOE Office of Electricity Delivery and Reliability, through funding to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Our batteries are engineered to be containerized and fully factory integrated. They are repeatedly manufactured, readily transportable including for international markets, and “plug and play” for the customer.
